Finally, nearly after 25 years, there seems to be some respite for Korattur residents as Korattur (till Ambhattur) has been included in corporation of chennai.
Lets keep our fingers crossed and see what happens from now on :-)

New Year

This new year has been pretty different. This is almost the first time in my career that I am going to work ... Hold on!! By work, I mean stepping into office ;-) Very strange indeed :-P
Change is the only thing that is unchanged and I hope this turns out to be a pleasant change.

Un intentional Break - BSNL the creditor
Am back after a long time. Couldnt write anything due to one reason: NO INTERNET @home and no time to browse outside.
Some how found some time to scribble today.
Around 5 months back I shifted from Nungambakkam to Korattur. We have already placed a request for the transfer the same day.
We were promised that within 10days there will be a new connection at my house, but its going to be 10 months and still there is no connection.
The reason they say is that there is concrete road near my house and that they don't have permission to do so. When we enquired the higher authorities, they told there is no such constraint, but they also cannot help as the matter wasn't in their hands.
Now the million dollar question is: When will I get my telephone line?

Holidays
Holidays are always fun having to do nothing except eat and sleep.
After college, I enjoyed one such long leave for Diwali (10 days) where my office remained closed.
Now nearly after 4 years, I am in one such long leave, this though for a diff reason. But still there is no limit for the happiness when you are at home :-)

வேளாங்கண்ணி பாத யாத்திரை
சமீபத்தில் வேளாங்கன்னிக்கு சென்னையில் இருந்து பாத யாத்திரை செல்லும் கிருத்துவ பக்தர்களை பார்த்தேன். மனம் உருகி போனேன்.

Recently there have been too much hyping around this one topic.......
Ppl wandering around the city, wearing T Shirts having LOGO 'I LOVE CHENNAI' and stuffs like that.....
At this stage, who cares whether you love or hate Chennai. @ All those who love Chennai: Can you please come up with some highlight of Chennai which you love??
Ppl will come up with hopeless things such as huge population and auto rickshaws etc... which are our black marks...
The super black mark that I could think are pollution in all types, cheaters, Law breakers, Bribers, pick pocketers, politics, jealousy.....
Other than that, the only lovable place in Chennai is your home or your friend's home. How many people serve their home sincerely? The answer will again be diminished and Ppl will throng here bashing me :-(
When most of them cannot look after their home, why wander around saying 'I love Chennai'.
Small drop makes a ocean. A small change in each and everyone of us will make Chennai good.

Pallikaranai Marsh
This has one hell lotta mess right from my college days. I wrote some thought provoking essays during my college days. Getting marks is one aspect. But my intention was to make something happen during my younger days. Still I am young, no doubt about that :-), but the force and intentions have clearly gone down with my hopelessly planned schedule and increasing laziness.
This mess contains half the city dump and will be burning all the time like anaiyaa jyothi :-) causing health related illness for all the surroundings.
When U go by even bus, driver has to switch on the fog lamps, else there is no vision and trip to heaven is guaranteed.
Coming back to the topic, after we wrote, and sent to Anna University, incidentally "The Hindu" folks rightly captured the scene of the so called MANURE DUMP (URA Kidangu in tamil) and after some weeks, due to the officials' interference, the fire was put off permanently and there was no burning and some trees were planted to make the place green. I was happy at that time.
Till recently everything was good, when one fine day when I was going to office, again the smoke screens were put on the road. GOSH!!! I didnt have a fog lamp in my bike and worst part is I cant avoid breathing the air. I was half dead when I came out of the smoke. Again my heart was heavy thinking of those poor innocent humans as well as animals who live in there.
Already Chennai is a polluted city. Now the suburbs are joining the party. Welcome to the gang

Excitement
Whenever something good happens in my life, I will be in my usual cheerful mood. Last week, we had booked our second car, and there was no excitement whatsoever in me. I am not a multi millionaire. But still, I was just reacting as if it was another occasion. May be, office frustrations are entering into my personal life as well :-( . Need to keep my emotions under check.
From "no where to now here", its been the sincere hard work from each of us in our family with blessings from elders, friends and wellwishers to reach this stage.
I thank all of my friends and well wishers and wish them good health, wealth and luck.

Location change
I have been asked to relocate to the heart of city called as MAHINDRA WORLD CITY :-( w.e.f june 22 2009.
Highlight is, I need to travel more than 60 kms for a single journey. Real test for my physical and mental toughness. Lets see whats in store for me.

Parakum Rayil
This term has created quite a lot of excitement a few years before when I was a child. As the term indicates, the train goes at a elevated floor.
This topic is not about the train but about the construction of stations.
This new rail segment starts after Park station and ends temporarily in Velachery (though the future plan is to lay it till St Thomas Mount). The way in which it began every one thot all traffic problem in these part of areas will be solved, but not so as it moved at snails pace till I have become an youth.
Now finally atleast they have managed to launch the train till velachery, but all basic amenities in the stations are absent.
No car/Bike park, No proper toilet facility. No finished structure which is the most important point to be noted.
When you build a house, if you keep anything house hold materials like window or iron bars or anything else in the open for days together, it will get rusted and will be ulitmately thrown in dustbin. The same things happening in these unfinished structures. Many iron bars are totally rusted and I very much worry how this structure will be in future :-(

Trip On Pilgrimage
Trip to Pillayarpatti – 3 day weekend
After a long time, everyone in my house didn’t work. It happens that most of the time on any day, except Sunday not all of them will be at home.But this weekend was an exception. We decided to go on pilgrimage by our car itself for a change and after some discussion it was decided that we will go to Pillayarpatti near Karaikudi and cover some of the temples en route.
May 1 – @ morning 8.25 amAll of us got ready and we kick started our journey from Nungambakkam. I put my hand up first since it’s my favorite hobby – driving the car. After having our breakfast at around 9.30 am, the journey began in full flow.
@ 2.30pmWe reached Sri Rangam amidst a long and wonderful journey in my car. The journey was to say the least ‘simply superb’. The roads were good to travel except in some places where they were still constructing 2 way roads and fly overs.
About the temple:
Sri Rangam temple was awesome. Though I have been some 2 or 3 times before I was very young and I only liked to play running and catching there. This time though my mind set was a bit different, only a bit different :-) .This was Iyengar’s one of most important temple. It's called Divya Desam and its 3rd on the list of the vaishnavites. Very very important for all of us. I last visited this temple when I was in 6th or 7th standard (pretty long time ago) At that time, it was a village, with population not more than 20 persons per sq km. Now it has come under trichy corporation and its resembles a city. Flats promoters are seeing big money there.
Good change but for a bad cause – NO more agriculture or dense trees.
We went to the temple in the evening. Since it was a holiday, there was one hell lot of crowd. Point to be noted is there was no air since they have renovated the temple in such a way that there is no entry of outside air in the premises. We were all sweating because of that wonderful innovative ventilation. Since the temple is not used to such a large crowd, the queue management was bad. Still ppl were gentle to adjust to those things.
Slowly queue started to move. As we were nearing the sannathi, we noticed that the Bhattar(the priest) and queue regulator were allowing people in the wrong way.
I was thinking, What the hell are you doing Sir? Being in a respectable post, You shouldn't be doing this. Whats the use??As long as lazy goose ppl are there, these set of people will thrive. When I enquired, he said for going in that line You need to get some reco letters. Another story from that idiot.
In pre independence era, it was the caste system that determined which people should enter the temples. In 21st century, it’s the money and power that’s determining the same. 'Good change', as I thought to myself.
To be frank, there was a 100 rupees ticket even. But these people will still go in the wrong way bribing others. Excepting a few, most of the Priests are really very good.
After a wait of 3.5 hrs we were back to our room.

Morning we got up late and started to another Divya Desam called Anbil. I was already trembling thinking of the bhattacharrys there :-P. Mudiyala
But to my surprise, those ppl were very sincere. I was heartened to see such ppl. Also, there was no crowd at all.
Reason: Its situated outside Trichy. All divya desams are equally important and this one is being ignored just because its 15-18 kms outside the city.I can’t stop thinking about the ignorant people who doesn’t know that all temples are equally important.
Some of them might contradict even my statement telling that ‘Only divya desam are not temples, all the local temples are also temples. Yes I agree to this fact, but then why are you people coming to Divya desams. There is something special there and we have to accept it.
Now coming back to the topic,Anbil temple was damn good. It was quite opposite to Srirangam, the area was very small but very very divinely. The place was damn quiet. Good place for meditation and retired ppl to lead their life. At around 1.00pm we reached Srirangam, packed off and started our journey to Pillayarpatti. Journey was kool.
@4.45pm
Reached Pillayarpatti. Had a good darshan. Signed off at 5.45pm and started journey to Cuddalore.
@10.00pm
Reached Kumbakonam and we decided to take rest and start the next day. May 3 @9 am Started the long journey. On the way, we went to a temple which is located near Seergazhi called Kozhikuthi.
Strange named place. But the actual Sanskrit name was Kodihaththi which means even if one commits a crime which is equivalent to a crore murder and one visits this place, he/she will be freed from its effects.
Had a good darshan and started back to Cuddalore and reached there around 1pm. Went to my granny’s house and had a good lunch and started back to Chennai @5pm and reached my home at 10pm. The whole journey came to around 944.5 km and it was a good experience of car driving.
Overall the trip was satisfactory. Learnt some lessons in life too :-)

Death Race at signals

Finally back to India and writing my first post for this sweet year.
Didnt have time to browse :-( I am not a good time manager.
After coming back, I thought I can never change to this atmosphere. But after a couple of months, Yes I have again become a typical Chennaite.
Typical Chennaite doesn't necessarily mean breaking the rules, it also means adjusting to the people who breaks the rules.
Here is one such daily event that happens in my city.
Each time DMK comes to power, we see vast changes happening. Especially the number of bridges being built.
Now this time the notable improvement is that, the number of signals in the city have also increased.
This gives a thought that there might be discipline but it contradicts since the time of travel has increased, People ride with extra aggression.
Before the flash of green, bikers will be in top gear, cars will start honking.
Now, these are set of people who will never change.
My point is about the other set of unruly people. They are none other than the pedestrians waiting to cross the signals.
Most of the time, the pedestrians will be sluggish to cross the road. For most of the pedestrians, signals ends when they cross one part of the road.
Read my previous lines, U can understand that the vehicle traffic would have started even before green has flashed.
Now the REMOS and REMIS (female of REMO) will start to cross the road in Anniyan style (enna nambala ila) without caring for the vehicle traffic with some of them talking over mobiles with their spouse as if that call is worth 1 crore.
Who is getting affected? Only people who strictly follow rules. They either fall down or hit them.
The other unruly vehicle traffic is nowhere in sight. They would have already gone to the next signal
Dont know when these sort of behavior will change.
